Alumni Spotlight

WHS Alumni Spotlight – Joe Mitchell

Running my business Yeoman Brewing Company, where we make Kombucha, other unique drinks, and pickled goods, is my passion. We have been selling our products at Littleton Farmers Market for the past five summers. I am finishing up a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies: Sustainable and Diversified Entrepreneurship, with Minors in Photography and Media Studies, as well as a certificate in Transformative Innovative Design Entrepreneurship, from Plymouth State University. Then I plan on pursuing my MBA. I am the Student Assistance Program Coordinator at  Woodsville High School where I work on drug and alcohol prevention, school climate, and youth leadership. At WHS I am working to restart the FBLA and Youth and Government program. I love being able to take the students on adventure-based experiences, hiking, biking, canoeing, and rock climbing around our beautiful area. I am a firefighter on Bath NH Fire Department and I volunteer for Pemi Valley Search and Rescue out of Franconia Notch. I serve on the Haverhill Area Substance Misuse Prevention Coalition, and Haverhill Conservation Commission, and work as the Coordinator for the Haverhill Area Community Resilience Project funded by the UNH Cooperative Extension. Other entrepreneurial ventures of mine include Ammonoosuc Goods and local social media consulting. If I have free time, you can find me exploring my passions for small businesses, travel, food and drink, hiking, or canoeing.

Do not be afraid to take “untraditional” routes in your life after graduation! Find the opportunities that work the best for you and allow you to explore life. Not everyone moves away and attends college full time, but not everyone stays in Woodsville. Use your support system but carve the path that is best for you, even if that path has more twists and turns than you originally planned.
